Out of Order
By Ray Cooney
The play takes place in Suite 648 of the Westminster Hotel where Tory Minister Richard Willey is about to embark on a night of passion with the Labour Leader’s typist, Jane Worthington.
Naturally, things don’t run as smoothly as Mr Willey anticipates and their secret liaison is drastically hindered by the discovery of a dead body trapped in the hotel’s only unreliable sash window.
Enlisting the help of his hapless private secretary George Pigden, Willey’s sticky situation goes from bad to worse with the arrival of his loving wife, Jane’s distraught husband, an unscrupulous waiter, a frustrated hotel manager, the bossy Nurse Foster, and a Spanish maid.
